吐露心情 = Melissa = 快活神仙

It’s interesting how babies are so ready to show how they feel. It’s like they write their heart on their sleeves and it’s so cute when they're happy and laughing or playing. I wonder when is it that people start hiding their emotions. Obviously, there’s a need for it as you need to be sensitive not to offend those around you, but some times I feel if we can all just be like babies and be more unrestraint with our emotions and feelings, especially the positive ones, the world would be a better place.

Sandy's Birthday

Sandy's XX birthday was this past Wednesday.. Her mom and brother arrived in town from Taiwan and was able to share the moment with her :) Her mom is staying here for another few weeks to help out with Melissa, while Eric was passing through on his way back to NYU, where he's about to resume his second semester of study there.
On Sunday night, we also got together with some friend and family at Frankie, Johnny, and Luigi's too for a nice dinner. We brough Melissa out with us to the restaurant and got her all dressed up, and got many "aww, so cute" type of comments from waiter/waitresses and other patrons at the restaurant.

Hmm.. Melissa doesn't look too interested in the cake yet.. She doesn't know it's good stuff yet, hehe..

Melissa's Major Milestone 3-4 Month

Melissa had her 4 months check up couple days ago. Here is a quick summary of her growth and development:

Weight: 12 lb 0.5 oz (76%)
Height: 25 inches (74%)
Head Circumference: 41.6 cm (65%)

Melissa did not cry at all this time when she saw the doctor, and she was doing very well on her tummy in front of the doctor. Melissa also got a few vaccination shots at this doctor’s visit. She only cried for 5 seconds when the needle went into her leg, she is so brave!

Here are some major milestones when Melissa is 3-4 month old:

• Coos a lot and squeals really loud comparing to last month.
• Starts to drool a lot.
• Strongly prefers to be held upright.
• Likes to drink bottle in the stroller.
• Smiles more and more when you interact with her.
• Looks at the mirror and smiles.
• Starts eating her fingers and hands a lot.
• Likes to kick her feet with delight in the water during bath time.
• Knows how to grab things using her hands.
• Likes to sit in the swing and bouncer and often falls asleep in it.
• Can hold her head upright while she’s on tummy.
• Holds her back straight to stand up with our support.
• Wakes up every 4-5 hours to be fed at night.
• Sleeps around 11pm for 10 hours and wakes up around 4am to be fed.
• Grabs a bottle to drink and pushes it away when she finishes.

We got some pictures that she's playing with the new toys from Uncle Justin. You can see how happy she is!

Melissa is doing good on tummy time!

Melissa is doing pretty good on tummy time these days. She can turn her head around. Melissa is also getting quite chubby by just eating breast milk, we wonder why since Daddy and Mommy are not chubby?? She is already wearing 6-9 months clothes, and mommy has to retire some of her 0-3 months clothes.

Melissa is wearing her Christmas present!

Look, Melissa is wearing her Christmas present from Auntie Sally. Her onesie says "My favorite aunt got me this!" How cute! Thank you, Auntie Sally!

2008 Year End Update

Happy New Year! It has been a very busy and eventful year for us. Here is a quick update on what’s going on at our end, a year in review of sorts:

Around mid January, we found out that we’re expecting a baby. John then started blogging shortly afterwards, for more details on our trials and tribulation of pregnancy and raising a child, checkout little-wuster.blogspot.com. At the end of January, Sandy received her CPA license from California Board of Accountancy after practicing in public accounting industry for about three and half years. All the hard work and long hours have finally paid off!

In May, John was accepted into UCLA’s FEMBA (fully-employed MBA) program, which he is now attending (going there pretty much every weekend, one quarter done and 2 ½ more years to go).

In July, John changed job, leaving Motorola after 2 ½ years there and joined a startup called, SS8 Networks. He is a lot busier than back at Motorola. Hard to say if it’s the best choice, given the baby and MBA and the lower stability at a startup, especially in this economy. But overall, John does feel like he is making more of an impact and being more productive, and feel pretty good about that at least. Sandy is still with BDO Seidman, LLP to practice in public accounting.

Early this year, John also got together with a few friends to work on a social website specialized towards gamers. It is called sifog.com (short for site for gamers). It is taken a while to flush it out, but we just officially moved it to beta phase so it’s progressing. If you’ve played games like WoW, EQ, or other mmorpg like them, do check it out.

All this time, Sandy’s tummy was getting progressively bigger. At the end of July, Shuhan and Sally organized a baby shower for us, and we received a lot of presents and best wishes from friends and families. On the morning of Sept. 8th, Sandy went into labor. Then on Sept 9, baby Melissa was born after close to 24 hours of labor. Since then, we’ve had both Grandparents come over and visit (and help out), as well as visits from many other caring and interested family and friends. It’s wonderful to have such great support from everyone.

Melissa is now about 3 ½ months old and around 13.5 lbs in weight and about 24 inches tall. She has learned to grasp thing, smiles frequently, and make some random sounds like “Ah Goo.”

As the year comes to an end, we just wanted to update everyone on things that has been happening with the Wu family and share a few pictures with everyone and say many thanks to everyone who has helped out and wished us well. We have so much to thank for. We are all happy and healthy. We are also thankful for having Melissa, a healthy and adorable baby to join our family. Lastly, we would like to wish everyone happy holidays and a wonderful new year!
